Ten years ago, the very first iconic, exotic Escurio cigar took to the stage. Its stimulating sweet and spicy personality was born of the unique climate of the coastal Brazilian Bahia region where the heat tangoes with the rain.
To honor the 10th anniversary of the Escurioline, the Davidoff Escurio 10th Anniversary Limited Edition Gran Toro adds even more complexity to the Escurio experience. Only Davidoff Master Blenders could perfectly partner tobaccos from Brazil and the DR with a total age of 45 years, including one Dominican filler aged in bourbon casks for added sweetness and depth.
Wrapper: Ecuador (Aged 4 years)
Binder: Brazil (Aged 9 years)
Fillers: 1 Brazil (Aged 9 years), 1 Dominican (Aged 8 years) and 3 Dominican (Aged 5 years)
Notes:
The cigar begins with creamy and toasting flavours and notes of coffee. A long aftertaste, reminiscent of that of a praline, lingers on the palate and is accompanied by hints of vanilla bean. The ever-changing flavours evolve into a fruity character, complemented by a pleasant sweetness imparted by the whisky cask aged Dominican filler tobacco. Domincant leather notes, enhanced by liquorice, balance the sweetness perfectly.
Toward the end, the cigar develops spicier notes, this is a noticeable influence of the Brazilian filler tobacco on the overall taste. Hints of bittersweet chocolate and almonds blend beautifully withe the sweetness of acacia honey.
Pairing suggestions: Bourbon Old fashioned or Cold Fashioned.
